Walking into the exhibition space, which is shaped the artist of three major time periods --“Kusama in Matsumoto”,“Kusama in New York 1957-1973”and”Kusama in Tokyo”. In addition, “My Eternal Soul” series features over 130 paintings that she has been working on since 2009. The exhibition also showcases her early works, which are amazing and fascinating.
‘Walking on the Sea of Death (1981)’ was made in New York. Attaching stuffed cloth on the object and complying with the multitude of projections, as was seen in this work, is not a simple repetition of form, but rather a mass of multiplying living organisms, which strongly suggests sexuality. “Gleaming Lights of the Souls (2008)”, consist of a single space, where the walls and ceilings are covered with mirrors. There are a hundred lamps changing their colors above the ceiling to transport you into a special rhythm and pulse
“Yayoi Kusama: My Eternal Soul” exhibition runs until May 22th, 2017. If you are one of Kusama fans, this retrospective is definitely the must-see this year !
