I was born in 1965. For more than 20 years I have worked professionally as a ceramist. I have attended curated exhibitions, both at home and abroad, and received various prizes.

In 1985 I went to pottery school where my strong interest in the craft itself grew. After a course at a Danish Folk High School in the early 1990s, I started a workshop communion, Brændpunktet (The Ignition Point), in Copenhagen.

Here it became clear to me that it was form rather than function that held my interest.

In the late 1990s, I worked as assistant for ceramicist Christian Bruun, who was strongly inspired by an American tradition with great emphasis on material and firing processes. I attended the International Ceramics Center in Western Zealand, Denmark, where I worked with wood firing and soda firing, which later led me to explore raku firing.

Since 2008 I have been living in the countryside where I have my own workshop and showroom. I am a member of the artists' associations "Cromisterne" and Danish Craftsmen and Designers.

The inspiration comes mainly from iron parts and organic observations. The dark colors and the rough texture that remind of flakes of rust on decaying iron parts are a pervasive feature of my works. As well as the flanges in vertical, horizontal or spiral motion modeled around a central shape in a strict ordered style is a special characteristic. The forms themselves are also reminiscent of the organic nature when it is used as inspiration for the flanges that lie upon the neck of the jars.

The works are made from a clay mixture containing paper fibers which cling to the clay during drying, and reinforce it during the firing process. The shape is thrown on a wheel and the flanges are molded onto the jars. The pieces are treated with copper carbonate which, during the raku firing, produces a number of red, brown, greyish, blue and turquoaise tones – colors associated with rust and patina.
