“Tasty Collection” is an interesting project; questioning about how we remember the taste in our memories and how the senses can be visually translated into the object. The concept of my design stems from the memories of my childhood that how I built up memories and perception about the taste. In my childhood tactility was the most influential way to form my memories.
Focusing on "Tactile sensation", I wanted to create imaginative, sensually provocative ceramic object which leads to Synesthesia experience. The surface/colour of each object is reminiscent of certain flavour/taste to give imagination to viewer.
Inspiration comes from the abstract feeling of taste like sour, sweet, fizzy, bitterness. The colours and texture of my work turned this abstractness into tangible and vibrant visual language in ceramics. These extraordinary objects are in between function and non-function to suggest the potential how the ordinary object can be evolved in beyond functionality. Every piece is purely hand-made, each piece is unique and fun, this artistic object not only featuring the technical skills based on craftsmanship but also suggesting the dialogue and narrative of objects in contemporary context whilst throwing a question the area between Craft, Design and Art.
