Do you remember TIME magazine's cover featuring the cast of Game of Thrones from last July? Each actor was in classic and elegant costumes, holding flowers and fruits, shot in front of brightly colored curtains. Using strong light to illuminate their faces with intense colors, Miles Aldridge created dramatic and memorable portraits of each cast member. Aldridge was also the photographer for TIME's 100 most influential people of 2017. TIME selected his portraits of Viola Davis and the Game of Thrones cast as some of the Best Portraits of 2017.
Aldridge has collaborated with high-end and esteemed international companies such as Vogue, New Yorker, and TIME among others. Aldridge's photographs appear also in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London and the Victoria and Albert Museum. His shots of family friend John Lennon, as well as of sister and Victoria's secret model Lily Aldridge helped Miles Aldridge become a well-known international photographer.
Looking back at the early works of Miles Aldridge, he has always been known for his portraits of female models. His works usually feature nude models, often styled with white-painted bodies, colorful wigs, and blank expressions, made to look like dolls posed in different scenes. Each picture tells a fantastic narrative, inviting the viewer's curiosity about the story behind the scene. Perhaps Miles Aldridge has a special perspective on photography because of his many years of experience shooting music videos, giving him a varied experience in captivating the viewer. His expertise in his craft is clear, his photographs are drafted and composed before the camera comes out.
